This dress makes me happy. It's bright. It's comfy. And I figured there was no possible way it would turn out.
First, I made it from roughly sketched pieces I drew on wrinkled tissue paper, but I forgot to include a seam allowance. The pieces mostly fit together except one set in the middle that didn't. Out of frustration I set this project aside and figured it was a waste. A few weeks ago, I picked it up again and decided to add another strip midway through sewing and see what might happen...and it fit!
But, best of all? Parts of this dress are upcycled fabrics. The large floral print was a Baby Lulu dress that Bird wore to pieces and was stained. The turquoise polka dot fabric was the bottom piece of a tank top from a dress I made my niece last summer. All other fabrics were stash busters...fabric I had in my stash that I purchased without a plan and and quickly neglected.
But this spring/summer they are feeling the love. And a whole lot of love!
The sizing on this dress is a little off...it's a smidge big, but otherwise, it makes me pretty happy!
That's a very good thing.

Adorable! I demand a tutorial for making this one.
