challenge me

I rummaged and dug through three large bins filled with fabric, searching for the perfect orange to make a snowman's nose (thank you, pinterest). Every few seconds, I paused and pulled out a wonderful print. "Why haven't I used this yet? I love this!" I exclaimed to...well, no one. (It was one of my rare heavenly alone moments...) "Or this one! I must use this one!"

And so a skirt (and a challenge) was born. My inspiration began with the soft green and beautiful rose print fabric. Of course it demanded a bold red ruffley companion. And then it demanded another red, perfect for the waistband. Finally the hem, a large rose print, so large sometimes I only see the colors and not the roses: red, soft green, forest green, and blue.

I loved designing this skirt for so many reasons. I loved using the fabric I couldn't leave behind in the fabric shop. When I purchased them, I didn't have a project in mind, but I knew I needed them...or they needed me. Either way, they made me happy and came home with me. With too many other projects on my list, these fabrics were set aside for someday. I loved that their someday was today.

I loved the challenge of creating something using only what I had in my collection. Of course if I'm being totally honest, it is a stretch to call it a challenge because of the huge amount of fabric in my collection. Still, using the fabric rather than leaving it sit in a bin brings me one baby step away from Hoarders.

If you'll join me, I'd love to bring you into my challenge. Here's how we will do it...you tell me what style of fabric you'd like for the main print: whimsical, shabby chic, romantic, bold, floral, whatever. Or you can tell me what colorway you'd like. Of course you can leave it entirely up to me and I'll surprise you with some favorites of my own!**

And then the fun begins. I will dig through my collection and choose prints for the skirt, the ruffle, the hem, and the waistband. If you'd like, I will email you a picture of the pieces together. Since this is a fun challenge, I'm offering these skirts for a fun price: $30 for sizes 6-12 months through 4T or $35 for sizes 5T and larger. Order three or more skirts and I'll ship them for free.

You can order by emailing me at chirpandbuzz [at] yahoo [dot] com, message me on facebook, or post a comment here.

I think that covers the details. If I've forgotten something, just ask!
**I have enough fabric to make one more skirt like the one pictured (up to a size 5T).
